Happy End of October! The cool morning weather is beginning to make me believe we actually have seasons in Southern California. I’m ready for some cozy fall evenings and maybe even some rain next week! Yay!
Do you ever experience a God-moment at an unexpected time? This week, I was wrestling with some thoughts and feeling frustrated. On Tuesday morning, we began our morning worship time as a staff and the book we were reading defined the word radical. I immediately knew it was a God-moment because the evening before I had seen a square root sign in conjunction with its name, the radical sign. It stuck with me because it wasn’t a fact I had stored in my mind, and it bothered me because I love math but couldn’t recall this piece of information. And the next morning, there it was. Radical means to get down to the root of something. God was speaking to me. “You are frustrated but what is the root of that frustration?” As much as I wanted my thoughts and feelings to be blamed on someone other than myself, the root of the issue was me. Ok God, I’m listening.
Experiences like this are humbling…to know that the God of the universe is interested enough in my spiritual journey to line up small details in my daily life to get my attention. Humbling and mind blowing to realize how much each of us matter to God.
What is the price of five sparrows-two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Luke 12:6-7 NLT
