My Bible app had a well-known verse this morning, Matthew 7:12, The Golden Rule. What a great reminder to me as this school year takes off to treat others with respect and offer grace. Those little things…the weather is too hot, I’m subbing in 5th grade, my husband is still on his 20-something day hike, my son is looking for a job, my church is searching for a new pastor, the lunch tables arrived during lunch, I must dig a fork out of the food trash bag, my shoes are too tight…need I say more…mere glitches but my mind creates a disaster. Those glitches start to build up in my system and I lose sight of how God calls me to behave. Respect and grace. How would I like to be treated? I’m grateful for a patient and loving God who gently sends me reminders when I need them the most.
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12 NLT
