Even though we are only 12 days into the month of May, I’m feeling overwhelmed by how rapidly the days are passing. This last weekend, my goal was to complete my final exam to finish up my master’s through La Sierra. I received the exam Friday afternoon and I vowed to complete it by Sunday evening. Well, Sunday evening came but my mind was stuck on the mechanics of writing the required essays and I didn’t finish. When I woke up on Monday morning, I was not rested and instead felt stressed and unprepared to begin the week. My prayer in the dark early hours of Monday was for peace. God, please give me peace today. I’m not ready for today. My week is filled with necessary tasks that I now must push aside until I can complete my exam. Peace! Please give me peace!
As you can imagine, I was not feeling peaceful as the school day began until Bible class with my 6th graders. The Treasure Verse for the day, Philippians 4:6, 7 NLT, which I had planned at the end of April, and hadn’t really thought about it since, said: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. THEN you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. God sent me a message loud and clear.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 NLT
