Happy Almost Valentine’s Day! A day to express our love for those close to us and far from us. Every year, my dad sends me flowers or chocolate or some sort of gift for Valentine’s. When I was a senior in college, I remember the girls in my dorm being so excited when flowers arrived at the front desk for me. It is possible I’m remembering incorrectly, but it seemed like a significant crowd of girls were waiting for me to come down from my room to see me open the card and share the secret of the sender with them. Of course, I was confident my dad had sent them but they didn’t know my dad’s tradition with me.  I can still see anxious, excited faces in my mind. I then recall seeing those faces go from “secret admirer” excitement to a different kind of joy. It makes me tear up just thinking about that experience. My dad is not an affectionate person in words or actions, but he uses every Valentine’s Day to express his love for me. I treasure his gifts to me and that day, I saw the desire of a father who would express his love in a tangible way on some of my dorm friends’ faces. I felt and still feel blessed by my dad.

I’m prompted to think about how I can share my love with my own children and all my school children daily in this season of no hugging and hidden faces. I pray my family at home and my school family knows and can see how much they are loved by me.

You are LOVED Conejo Family!!! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. 1 John 4:7 NLT
