Can I write this without crying? Probably not but here goes…

In just a few shorts weeks, Mrs. Doyle and her family will be moving to Ohio. Mrs. Doyle began here at Conejo as Ms. Stuart back in the fall of 2000. She joined our staff as the 5th & 6th grade teacher and has continued in that capacity for the last 21 years. Yes, 21 years teaching 5th & 6th graders how to read, to grow a love for reading, to write, to calculate, to express themselves, to grow into functioning teenagers, and how to love Jesus. I’ve seen Mrs. Doyle grow and expand her program tremendously over the years. You might think she would just be functioning on auto-pilot at this point in her career but she has continued to change to meet the needs of her students. Her ability to hold students accountable and help them grow into responsible young people has been a gift to all of us at Conejo.

Will we miss Mrs. Doyle? Absolutely. As a colleague and a friend, I can always count on Mrs. Doyle to follow through with her plans. She has stepped up to organize outdoor school, reading emphasis week, book fairs, and she even took on the yearbook for us during her time here. As a friend, she has lifted me up with her words of encouragement and prayer, and has stepped in to help me when I needed her. It hasn’t really sunk in that she won’t be back with us in the fall to me yet. It is slowly becoming a reality to me though as I keep thinking of more holes that will need to be filled with her absence.

I’m thankful for text messages, phones, social media, and email but I’m going to miss Mrs. Doyle. I hope you will be able to join us in wishing her a fond farewell at her parade on Thursday, June 10th, from 6-7 PM. Mrs. Doyle is a treasure and we want to be sure she knows how grateful we are for her time and service to our school and community. We love you Mrs. Doyle! I love you Mrs. Doyle! Thank you for giving half of your life to us and our kids!

I thank my God every time I remember you. Philippians 1:3 NIV
