Welcome to March! In the past three days, we’ve had winter, spring, and summer! First and second grade were delighted with the rain yesterday. I had almost forgotten how little it takes to delight a group of six- to eight-year-olds but the 10 minutes of precipitation was more than enough for them. Pure delight. All but one or two of the class insisted they needed to use the restroom during those few moments and were happy to announce the rain as they opened the door time and time again. Surprise! It is raining outside! Who knew???
In our worship yesterday, we read one of my favorite verses. A verse of God’s delight with us, His children. It brings a wonderful picture to my mind of God singing a song over me. Several students said they remember a parent singing songs to them as little kids…even more little than now. We talked about what it would look like to have a parent singing over their adult child. Kind of a delightful picture in my mind. I’m waiting for the opportunity to sing a song of delight over my own children. I can already imagine their reactions but I know deep down inside they would be happy. Or at least I’m going to imagine their happiness instead of embarrassment. My children, my delights in life.
