Welcome October! I love fall, but the darkness is starting to sneak up on me and my evening walks to the deer are fewer and fewer. I’m going to have to come up with a new plan, or maybe walks to the deer will just be reserved for weekends. Early fall darkness reinforces my need to be flexible just in case I don’t get enough practice during the school day. I can do it! I can be flexible! Don’t get weary and don’t give up!
A couple of weeks ago, my morning devotional was in Galatians. Paul talks about working as a team, gently guiding your teammates in life back onto a good path, and also being responsible for my own actions. There are days when I don’t want to be responsible for anyone and especially not myself. Could someone else just tell me what to do please? And if something goes wrong, it wasn’t my fault. We need a team around us in life to speak truth into our lives and gently guide us. Sometimes, I need more than gentle guidance and sometimes I get weary of doing “good” but I’m grateful for my teammates in life to guide me and biblical reminders to keep going! Don’t give up! Parental guidance can make us weary, but don’t give up! Your little and not so little ones are still learning how to do life, and we are continually learning how to provide better guidance. Don’t give up!
…you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. Galatians 6:1b-2 NLT
For we are each responsible for our own conduct. Galatians 6:5 NLT
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 NLT
